AFRICAN AMERICAN TIP REFINEMENT RHINOPLASTY
Case #9.
This patient did not like the broad bridge and prominent tip of her nose because she felt that it made her nose look too large for her face. She believed her nostrils were too wide and requested an alar base reduction.
Dr. Kolstad is a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon in San Diego and he has extensive expertise with African American rhinoplasty. In this case, Dr. Kolstad created cartilage grafts and perfomed complex bone remodeling to sculpt the patient’s bridge to a more feminine shape and make her nose appear more slender. He refined the tip of her nose by lifting and increasing the projection of the nasal tip. An alar base reduction was performed to narrow her nostrils.
